What Happens After I Take Off My Makeup

by - Wednesday, December 06, 2017

We've all seen Bloggers/YouTubers talking about how they do their makeup, their hair and everything like that, but lately, the 'Get Unready With Me' type of post/video seems to be a trend. I'm going, to be honest with you, I much rather prefer reading/watching these than the 'Get Ready With Me' ones. I feel like these are much more genuine. You're letting other people into your real life and not just the glamorous part. I don't know if I'm making any sense right now but that's just how I feel.

To me, it feels a lot more personal knowing what people do after they've come from either a glamorous party or their workplace. Anyways, enough of my rambling. Today this post is all about how I take off my makeup and what I do before I go to bed. Basically my nighttime routine.

MAKEUP

If I've been out for the day, the first thing I do when I get home (besides taking off my shoes) is take off my makeup. I can't understand how people can wear makeup around their house. It's beyond me. Maybe I'm just a bit weird.

First off, I use Primark's Lovely And Bubbly Foaming Facial Wash to take all my makeup off. I love the smell of this stuff and I think it does a pretty good job. And better yet, It was super cheap. I think I paid 2,75€ for it. I've been using non-stop for the past two months (granted I don't use it every single day because I don't do my makeup every day) and I love it.

Next up I use the Biphasse Soft Cleansing Milk to make sure all my makeup is removed. Again, this product was super cheap and works wonders. It only costs 2€ for 500ml! Isn't that amazing?

After I'm certain all my makeup is gone, I go in with my Byphasse Gentle Toning Lotion. This product has rose water in it- which I have a bit of an obsession with- and isn't drying like other toners I've tried before are. It feels extremely soft on the skin and you don't need a lot to cover your entire face. A little bit goes a long way which means the product will actually last longer. Oh and guess what? It's another super cheap product. 2€ as well.

By the way, just a side note here, I think I should've called this post a 'skincare on a budget' since all products I talked and will talk about below are all under 10€ haha.

Once a week I do a black face mask to get rid of black and whiteheads. I bought this Revuelve Black Peel-Off Mask a few weeks ago after I gave into the whole peel-off mask hype and I have to say this one is pretty good. It applies very easily, it dries fast and it actually works. While I wait for it to dry, I normally scroll through my instagram feed or my pinterest feed

When I take the mask off I normally go in again with the Byphasse Soft Cleansing Milk just to make sure there isn't any residue let on my skin. Then I go in with the only moisturizer that actually works on my skin, the Cien Aqua Moisturzer. I have very sensitive skin and most moisturizers don't do anything for my skin and if they do, they'll only work on a part of my face- normally the forehead- and leave the other parts with dry patches and redness.

Oh, I almost forgot to mention, I also exfoliate my face once or twice a week. I use the Primark's Buff Stuff Facial Scrub. It's super soft and it has Tea Tree and Witch Hazel in it, making your skin feel incredibly fresh.

SOCIAL MEDIA/BOOKS

After I put on my pyjamas and get into bed, I'll scroll through my social media, that meaning Instagram, Pinterest and Facebook. I have an unhealthy obsession with watching recipe videos on Facebook so I'll just scroll down watching videos for hours if I can. When I start feeling sleepy, I'll plug my phone to let it charge and go to sleep.

If social media doesn't help, I'll grab the book I have on my bedside table - which, right now is Into The Water By Paula Hawkins and read a few pages. Don't get me wrong, I live and breathe books (I'm a lit student after all) but reading at night makes me incredibly sleepy and I actually feel like I sleep a lot better when I read before I go to sleep.

So there's my nighttime routine. What do you do before you go to sleep?
